A rhythm game that uses Stroop Effect to train players' inhibitory control.
A game for impact.
My Role:
in collaboration with Jianhao Ma
Introduced in the 1930s by psychologist John Ridley Stroop, the Stroop effect is people’s tendency to experience difficulty naming a physical color when it is used to spell the name of a different color. Many psychologists have used it as a way of testing people’s inhibitory control, a core cognitive and executive function that controls our automatic urges for more appropriate behavioral responses to stimulus.
Survive, respond, and conquer with style in a serious game that combines Stroop tests, speed-running, and rhythm game mechanics.
Your mission: choose the perfect teleporter that the text color matches the color of a rolling ball to keep moving ahead. But here's the twist - the teleporters themselves turn into tricky Stroop tests! It's all about making lightning-fast yet spot-on decisions in the blink of an eye, training your mind to process information and resist those pesky instinctual responses!
But hey, it's not all serious business! We've crafted an awesome gaming experience that will keep you hooked with intriguing and well-designed mechanisms. As you play, you'll also give your cognitive abilities a serious boost thanks to our nifty learning elements. You see, we firmly believe that play isn't just for fun - it can seriously make a difference. Entertainment and education are like the perfect power-up combo - they go hand in hand!
